Sometimes, as a parent you just have to remember to go with the flow and that things are not always gonna go as planned. I am not the best at this in general, not in my nature, but when it has to do with Ozzie I am loads better... but let me back up.

Saturday I got up and had a shoot with 5 day old Hattie, who was just a doll. She was not at all helping my already raging baby fever. Her skin was just not fair for a newborn, absolutely perfect.

The plan for afterwards was to head home and wait for Oz to wake up from a nap, the make the 45 minute drive to my parent's place. Date night was happening! We packed up and drove north, hung out for a bit and watched the boys have light saber wars.

Then suddenly Ozzie comes to me and says "my tummy hurts". His head is soaked with sweat and he wasn't to be held. Huh?? He wasn't playing that hard. He was literally writhing around and the poor guy just couldn't get comfortable. Even though we were all pretty sure he was simply constipated we made the decision to scrap date night and take him home. He was lethargic and sickly the ride home, but by the time we got him out of the car he was JUST fine. Of course. He fed him prunes and apple juice in hopes of "speeding things up" and sent him to bed at his normal time.

Now I could have been all kinds of irritated that our date night was thwarted, but I mean seriously... what if it wasn't just simply a poop issue? How terrible would I have felt getting a call from my mom in the middle of the night that he was sick. I wouldn't have been able to forgive myself. Oh and yes... he did poop the next day and we were all very relieved, Ozzie the most I am sure.

Sunday morning was all about home. We snuggled in bed, made breakfast, then power cleaned the house. My goal was to get everything done so that we could really jump head first into our new cleaning schedule.

It all had to be done that morning because in the afternoon was Yo Gabba Live! Yes, we are to the age where we spend $100 for us all to go see toddler sing along things. Those of you without kids shake your heads all you want... but it was fun. Extra fun because my mom and nephew joined us. Even at 8, Derek  loved it.

We got there early and hung out in the pavillion to kill time...AKA watch Hubs entertain the kids. He felt that jump come morning, trust me.

Finally it was time to go in and get ready for the show. I am not sure what I enjoyed watching more. The kids, the parents, or the show! I definitely sang along and cheered loudly when Biz Markie showed up! Ozzie loved it even if he's not one to dance in the seats. He took it all in and I just loved having him on my lap.

And now it's Monday. I have a busy week ahead of me... so I had better get to it! How was your weekend?

  1. i love that biz markie is part of yo gabba. that's awesome!
